Energy prices rose by approximately 12.6% in July there. On 1st October , prices will rise 3.6% ON TOP of that, so rates will be nearly 17% higher than they were in April. Prices are the highest they’ve been since winter 2023.
So, it is with concern that a further 18% price increase is forecast to potentially be coming in January 2027. MoneySavingExpert founder Martin Lewis said the latest figures for wholesale gas prices were “not good news” for households, with current forecasts pointing towards another increase in the energy price cap at the start of next year.
However, the January increase is not yet confirmed, with wholesale prices still able to change before Ofgem sets the next cap.
