Maggie’s Lanarkshire hosted its annual Christmas Noel Lunch on November 28, 2025, at Crossbasket Castle, uniting the community and raising £70,000 for cancer support services. ASNsory Crew, a charity supporting young people with complex needs, received a £2,500 grant from the Participatory Budgeting fund. This funding will enhance their stay and play sessions by purchasing accessible toys and equipment. Since January, they have aided over 150 families, fostering an inclusive community in Blantyre.
Blantyre Short Breaks provides respite for adults with disabilities, aiming to raise funds for silent disco equipment and beauty products. The staff are actively engaged in fundraising activities, such as donating money instead of purchasing Christmas cards. Freya and Abbie McGuinness successfully raised £965 for St Andrew’s Hospice by climbing Ben Ann in memory of their gran, Lavina Gilfillan. Abbie and her friends are now preparing for their next challenge, the Kiltwalk 2026. St Andrew’s Hospice praised them as “True Hospice Heroes” for their ongoing support.
What a successful Sportmans dinner recently took place in Carrigans, Blantyre. A sum of £12,000 was raised! Half going to the Beatson Cancer Charity and half going to the local Youth club Terminal One to buy Christmas presents for the kids! Absolutely amazing! Such remarkable kindness. A £500 donation from South Lanarkshire’s Renewable Energy Fund will fund a Christmas lunch for LEAP’s Devlin Grove friendship group and other residents. Initiated by community member Ann Hartmann, the grant will enhance the festive experience with entertainment, and Council representatives expressed excitement about its positive impact on the community.
