Voting Age lowered to 16 in UK

The UK government plans to lower the voting age to 16 for all elections, allowing approximately 1.5 million 16 and 17 year olds to vote in the next general election. Currently, the minimum voting age is 16 only for local council elections in Scotland and Wales, while it remains 18 elsewhere.

Rest in Peace Glen Michael (99)

Children’s TV presenter Glen Michael has died at 99, peacefully at home in South Ayrshire after a short illness. He was beloved for hosting Cartoon Cavalcade on STV for nearly 30 years, from 1966 to 1992. His passing has deeply affected many in Scotland and beyond. Our condolences to his family.

Towers in Gorbals being Demolished

The last two tower blocks in Gorbals, built in 1965, are set for demolition on June 29th, with a controlled explosive method planned for summer 2025. The New Gorbals Housing Association will construct a new social housing estate with about 150 flats to accommodate families, expected to finish by early 2026.
