As part of Glasgow’s 850th Anniversary, a talk on “The Complicated David Dale: Cotton merchant and abolitionist” will be held on 18th October. It examines David Dale’s wealth from cotton manufacturing reliant on enslaved labor and his role as an early abolitionist. Researcher Dominic d’Angelo presents the complexities of Dale’s legacy.
