Victoria Street Roadworks

Extensive roadworks are underway at the corner of Victoria Street and Nursery Place, High Blantyre, due to a reported loss of gas pressure. Scottish Gas Networks is conducting investigations with trial digs in the carriageway, which remains passable. The works are anticipated to last for three weeks.

Arrested and Charged

A 53-year-old man was arrested for threatening the Blantyre Health Centre after a suspicious item was found on the premises, leading to evacuations on April 23, 2026. Nearby schools, Calderside Academy and Auchinraith Primary, were also affected, raising concerns among parents and carers. The man will appear in court later.
