Carnage at Hazelwood Drive

Screen Shot 2018-02-22 at 23.56.10The relative peace and quiet of the Wheatlands Housing Esatate, Blantyre was shattered this morning, when a stolen vehicle rammed several parked residents cars.

The idiot thief driving the stolen car lost control of it at Hazelwood Drive, around 8am, around a time when many children would have been heading out to school, especially around the St Blanes area.

The blackcar reg PX11 PNU ended up wedged between two resident’s vehicles and another person’s across the road! The cowardly thief then jumped out, left the car running and made his escape. He left carnage in his wake as the photos show.

Residents bravely give chase

Local resident, Claire Maguire , told us, “My very brave big sister and my step dad gave chase, as did our neighbour Eddie and another neighbour from down the road! The ar*ehole made his way along Fernslea Avenue, cut down the old mans rest and back out on the culdesac and back to Fernslea Avenue.”

The chase continued for some time when the thief made his way to Stonefield Road, but when he ran through a lane, he disappeared at the flats at Camelon Crescent.

Description of the thief

A great description was obtained of the driver of the stolen vehicle. He is:

A white male, around 5 foot “8 to 5 foot 10”
Slim build , Short black hair
Navy denims , Black fitted bomber jacket
Long sleeve black fitted top, Burgundy puma suedes
Black magic gloves, Smart dressed but looked as though on something – possible injury to his face

Claire continued, “Both my mum and step dad’s cars are a wreck with one being a complete right off! There is also significant damage to our neighbours! WeeSchool kids had already started making there way to school – it’s so hard to not think “what if”.

Police have been alerted. Yet another incident in what has been a notable month of vehicle crime in Blantyre.
