It’s nearing the end of February and what an incredible fundraising month we’ve had for good causes within Blantyre.
Incredibly, a total of £872 has been raised using income from the following sources:
£750 from Blantyre Oscars 2018 from part of the ticket sales and;
£122 from Blantyre Project’s sales of history books.
This month, we’ve allocated this money in 4 ways:
- £750 will be kept aside for the Christmas Street Lights to be improved on Glasgow Road. We’re rather sick of the old, tired, ‘red lights’ and with High Blantyre getting new lights last year, its about time Low Blantyre shone too! So, this money will be used to pay for 3 brand new LED sparkly lights to enhance the street in Winter 2018. With the imminent launch our new Blantyre Telegraph magazine in April this year, we hope to be able to buy more by the time Winter 2018 arrives.
- £50 has been donated to help terminally ill Blantyre girl Nicole Pryce travel to some nice places this year.
- £43 has been used to buy a renewable welcome banner for Blantyre Oscars charity event. A sustainable idea that can be used year upon year and free up future fundraising money.
- £29 to pay for postage in obtaining an important history collection from the late 1800’s, all about , ‘Calderglen’. This will be entirely scanned by Blantyre Project and made available for all of Blantyre to read and enjoy.
This HUGE jump in fundraising sees the total now raised by Blantyre Telegraph to date smash the £17,000 mark! Official total now is £17,002.65 over 87 local Blantyre good causes, all of which can be seen transparently on our main website here: https://theblantyretelegraph.wordpress.com/raised/
Well done to everybody who made this possible.
