An amazing month
It’s almost the end of April and in the last 4 week period, local history page, Blantyre Project has passed us a staggering £439.25 from the sale of Blantyre history books around the world!!
As a charitable organisation we’ve allocated it to the following causes:
-£163.76 to recoup the cost of 24 glossy photo books for Friends of the Calder, used at the recent Milheugh walk. (People of all ages attending, got to keep them for free!)
-£9.99 for 3 medals given out to lucky residents who opened the new Calder Paths.
-£25 for a small gift to a local (anonymous) lady in High Blantyre who recently received some unexpected bad news.
-£10 left in the staff tips jar at the opening of the Miners Welfare night.
-£24.99 for Blantyre Community Committee for renewal of their website, domain name and email addresses.
-£119.99 for annual renewal subscription of Ancestry.co.uk to ensure continuation of daily, free local history articles and a free Blantyre Ancestry service for any Blantyre resident.
-£29 for registering an advance design fee for our new Blantyre Telegraph Magazine which ran into this unexpected cost this month causing a delay in the imminent launch of the offline Blantyre magazine.
-£56 donation to McMillan Cancer Support via staff at Hairmyres Hospital.
Thank you to everybody who has supported Blantyre Project and Blantyre Telegraph this last month.
This takes the total raised by Blantyre Telegraph to date since 2015, to an astonishing £18,746.90 for 94 local good causes which are all transparently noted on the main Blantyre Telegraph website. Not one penny has been retained.
