A notorious location for flooding is currently being worked on at High Blantyre.

Hamilton Road adjacent to Greenhall Park currently has contractors working during daylight hours on the verge to install new drainage. The road at this location, turning into Stoneymeadow Road has been prone to flooding at times of heavy rainfall for many years.

In previous winters, its been so badly flooded, that vehicles have got stuck and in a few cases, forced nearby businesses to close with staff unable to get to work.

The current work by South Lanarkshire Council, expected to last a couple of weeks is unconnected to scheduled safety improvement works to the nearby junction and A725 EK Expressway sliproad.

It’s understood that a council meeting takes place tomorrow (Thursday 31st) to discuss significantly improving this road and junction, including the possibility of a new roundabout.
