Scotland Moves to Level Zero

A big change for Scotland today, Monday 19th July as we all move to Level Zero.

Whilst England lifts restrictions more widely, Scotland has taken a more cautious approach with the wearing of facemasks on public transport still mandatory and continuing with working from home for now.

However, a big change today, which will be welcomed by many including the Scottish hospitality industry is that up to 200 people will be allowed to attend weddings and funerals, a significant increase in numbers for events. It’s the news engaged couples have been waiting for that will finally allow them the kind of wedding reception party hoped for.

Another big change is Social distancing, which reduces from 2m to 1m in all indoor settings.

The Scottish Government has suggested it will move beyond level zero on 9th August with the lifting of social distancing under further review nearer the time.

Hospital numbers fell for a third consecutive day. No new deaths of people with recent positive tests were recorded, but the government noted register offices are generally closed at weekends.
