Extinction Rebellion March

Extinction Rebellion Protestors are nearing the end of their 8 week March from the south of England up to Glasgow ahead of the COP26 and they are set to pass through Blantyre.

Around 30 climate activists set off from London on 8th September on a march up to Glasgow, passing through Lockerbie, Johnstonebridge, Moffat, Abington, Douglas, Kirkmuirhill, Strathaven, and Blantyre before arriving in Glasgow next week.

Organiser Reverend Helen Burnett said: “So much walking has built powerful bonds between us and forged new and life giving relationships with those we have met.

“When we walk into Glasgow on Saturday 30th, foot sore and sleep deprived we will be joined by so many others who have walked, cycled from across the UK and the world and we know we will find the energy to engage with all that COP 26 has on offer and to make clear to world leaders that ordinary citizens are calling for immediate change.”
