Princes Square is set to transform its stunning foyer into a catwalk for cancer charity, Maggie’s Glasgow, on Monday 2nd October – and the charity has invited people who have use the centre to be their models.
Maggie’s Glasgow, the cancer support centre in the grounds of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, will take the floor in Princes Square to put on a fabulous fashion show from 7pm including some of its centre visitors and staff.
Fifteen models, all of whom have a very personal relationship with the centre, and have been supported by Maggie’s professional staff, will have their make-up and hair done courtesy of Nineteen Glasgow and beauty students from City of Glasgow College.
The models are set to don some of the finest outfits from some of Glasgow’s finest designers – in what promises to be a wonderful evening of funk and fizz!
They will strut their stuff in a range of outfits hand-picked by themselves, to help raise funds to support people with cancer.
Maggie’s are absolutely delighted to be partnering with Princes Square, Ted Baker, Reiss, French Connection, Katie Spade, Carvella and Barca to put on this very special fashion show.
Katie Moody, Centre Director at Princes Square said: “We are delighted to partner with Maggie’s Glasgow on a series of events at Princes Square. Raising awareness and supporting the charity’s fundraising efforts, the fashion show will be an especially unique occasion, and we can’t wait to see the models take to our courtyard catwalk in the latest collections from French Connection, Kate Spade, Reiss and Ted Baker – it’s sure to be a night to remember.”
Set to model on the day are twin sisters, Julie and Marianne MacDonald. whose mum Marie has been using the centre. They very much know the importance of the support Maggie’s offers to the entire family.
Julie and Marianne both ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon for Maggie’s raising a phenomenal £2514.00. Julie and Marianne, said “Maggie’s have provided invaluable support to our family this year, so we wanted to give back to this amazing charity which has been close to our hearts. Running the half marathon pushed us out of our comfort zone but we think walking the catwalk for Maggie’s and being in the spotlight might be an even bigger challenge! We’re a little nervous but we know we will be in the great company of others who have benefited from Maggie’s.”
Debbie Cook, Clinical Psychologist at Maggie’s Glasgow, is also taking part. She said: “It is a privilege to take part in this inaugural fashion show for Maggie’s – joining people who have used our beautiful centre at what can be the most difficult time of their lives. I know I’ll be nervous, but my nerves are nothing compared to how many people feel when they walk through the doors at Maggie’s for the first time. We often hear how hard it is to take the initial step, but we also know how very glad people are when they find us.”
