Main Street Road Closure – Ph2

Following our earlier post about Road Closures coming to Main Street, High Blantyre in March, here’s the planned second phase works.

Phase 1 as posted earlier will be closed from Douglas Street to Craigmuir Road from Mon 18th March until Fri 22nd March. However, Phase 2 is likely to be more disruptive.

Phase 2 will see Main Street fully closed off the week later at the Cornerstone building, at Douglas Street Junction with the road closed all the way down eastwards towards the Nairn Street junction near the shops. Necessary full width carriageway surfacing will be taking place. This phase will take place from Monday 25 March to Friday 29 March for resurfacing works with works lifted by Easter Friday.

This will impact some businesses on Main Street and again, we’ve enquired about local access being maintained for residents.

Diversion will be place via Hunthill Road, Stonefield Crescent, Stonefield Road, Glasgow Road, Auchinraith Road, Main Street and vice versa.

Whilst this major investment sees much of High Blantyre’s Main Street being resurfaced, it will mean full road closures will be in place for 2 weeks in March (with exception of weekends). Surrounding streets are likely to be busier.
