Another lovely wee story of kindness in the community. This time the Good Samaritan was caring Shelley Hilston of Hamilton.
Shelley and her daughter were in Blantyre Asda today and was at the checkout putting their shopping through when they noticed an elderly lady in the other lane getting her shopping scanned at the same time. The elderly woman went to pay but had her card declined due to forgetting her pin.
Shelley added on social media tonight, “This wee lady could barely walk, she was just a wee old lady. But we finished shopping and paying, and was walking away and noticed the wee lady walking away. I could have cried.”
Shelley didn’t want to embarrass the woman, but waited outside Asda for her, politely introducing herself and they started chatting. It was a cold day and not one for an elderly woman to be waiting for buses home. Shelley added, “She was absolutely tiny and the loveliest wee person ever…. We took her home to Hamilton and had a laugh in the car on the way home. I told her she shouldn’t be talking to strangers or getting into their car for that matter. She was comfortable however, laughing away.”
Later online, it was discovered the woman’s name was Christine and she is 87. Well done Shelley, a little bit of kindness has touched a lot of hearts with this uplifting story.
