Crossbasket Castle has announced that it will adopt an owner-operator model, with owners Steve and Alison Timoney taking over the management of the business, marking an exciting new chapter in the hotel’s evolution.
The transition comes on the back of a £20 million expansion launched in 2025, which saw the hotel expanded and an entertainment-led dining experience introduced within the Crossbasket Castle Estate. This next step brings together the hotel’s established reputation with the owners’ deep commitment and passion for the estate’s overall vision, enhancing operations, the guest experience, and long-term asset value.
As part of the move, the owners have partnered with renowned hospitality expert Nick Gamble, who brings over 40 years’ experience within the sector and will support management across the estate throughout the transition period.
Under the new owner-operator model, Crossbasket Castle will maintain its existing partnership with renowned Michelin-starred chef Michel Roux, who will continue to oversee all menus across the Estate. Chef Roux’s next dining experiences are scheduled for 18 February.
Steve Timoney said: “Today marks a tremendously exciting moment for us as part of our Crossbasket Castle journey, as we enter a new era across the estate.
“We’d like to express our thanks to Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI) for their invaluable support over the past decade, as we now look to build on our world-renowned reputation to strengthen the hotel’s position in the market.
“Our staff remain at the heart of the exceptional service that guests have come to know and love at Crossbasket Castle and we look forward to working closely with the team to further enhance that five-star offering.”
Alison Timoney added: “This independence allows us to be agile and imaginative. We envisioned becoming the most talked-about getaway in the world, creating something truly timeless and unique. From the beginning of this project, we wanted to develop a brand that everyone, from staff to guests to agents, wants to get to know. We can now drive that forward, and the excitement is palpable.”
Norbert Lieder, Managing Director of ICMI, said: “We have tremendously enjoyed working with Alison and Steve at Crossbasket for the past 10 years, helping to realise their vision. Our sister company Select will continue to support the reservations and revenue management of Crossbasket Castle and we wish Alison and Steve continued success.”
The hotel will continue to operate as normal, with no disruption to guests, staff, or partners. Future plans include a focus on service enhancement, team development, and ongoing engagement with the local community. All reservations remain unaffected by the change in management.
