When to give your grass first cut!

Spring is just around the corner—but when is the right time to give your lawn its first cut after winter?

Those with gardens may be interested to know that the Met Office has suggested it may be around 13th March, in around 3 weeks time.

Data analysed by the Met Office and tools company Black+Decker, suggests around that time of year is when temperatures typically turn to something close enough for grass to begin growing.

The Royal Horticultural Society notes that grass typically doesn’t grow when temperatures fall below 7°C. According to the analysis, from 13 March onwards, temperatures are likely to stay above this level through spring and into summer, marking the beginning of mowing season across much of the UK.

Have your say. Have YOU serviced your lawnmower before maintenance shops get busy? Have you organised regular cuts for this summer or doing it yourself?
