On 16 June 2025, South Lanarkshire Council enacted a regulation prohibiting speeds over 20 mph on specific roads in Blantyre, particularly near schools. The order applies to various streets including those adjacent to Auchinraith Primary School and others, emphasizing safety in school zones and requiring police permission for exceptions.
Significant roadworks in Hamilton will involve the closure of the eastbound off slip at Junction 6 of the M74 and lane 1 of the A723 for four weeks from July 6 to August 3. Traffic to Motherwell will be diverted south towards Hamilton, then redirected to A723 northbound.

Newhousemill Road will be fully closed from Davington Drive, Hamilton to Muirmains Farm from Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27, 2025, for resurfacing. The closure affects the route between High Blantyre and East Kilbride, with diversions set along Parkneuk Road, Sydes Brae, Hillhouse Road, and EK Expressway.
Amey, representing Transport Scotland, will resurface the westbound A725 at Whistleberry Retail Park from June 9 to June 15, 2025. Overnight closures from 8pm to 6am will occur, with signed diversions via Whistleberry Road. Traffic management will be lifted by 6am on June 15, 2025. Full details are available online.

John Street will be closed from 14 July to 16 July for patching works between 38 John Street and Glasgow Road. Local access will remain available during this period. A reminder will be posted closer to the date.
