Roadworks at Glasgow Road
Priory Culvert Repairs
South Lanarkshire Council Roads & Transportation will repair the Priory Culvert near Priory Bridge on Glasgow Road from Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Lane restrictions will be implemented for safety, but the majority of the work will occur underground, resulting in minimal disruption for drivers. The project is expected to be completed in two days.
New Roundabout at Blantyre Farm Road Set to Open Soon
Parts of Blantyre Farm Road, Calder Road, and Westburn Road have been closed since mid-January, but will re-open on July 20th at 5:00 PM due to the completion of a new roundabout. The project also includes landscaping improvements, a new entrance for Redlees Park, and upgraded drainage and lighting.
Roadworks on M74 Southbound Sliproad
Essential repairs at Clyde Bridge, Motherwell will lead to a temporary closure of the southbound off slip at Junction 6 of the M74 and lane one of the A723 for four weeks from 20 July to 17 August. A signed diversion will direct traffic to Junction 7 and back. Night closures are scheduled for the setup.
Hillhouse Road Flooded
Heavy rain has caused significant flooding on Hillhouse Road, obstructing the route to High Blantyre and affecting drivers and residents. This ongoing issue remains unresolved by South Lanarkshire Council, leaving many vehicles stranded and residents trapped in their homes. Urgent action from the Council is needed to address the problem.
Parking Suspended
Parking will be suspended for a week at Station Road and Park Lane, with cones marking off areas. Signage warns of vehicle removal for illegal parking. The council hasn’t listed any road closures, but temporary traffic orders may apply from 8am on July 10th to 8pm on July 16th. Community input is encouraged.
Cleanup Efforts in Hamilton This Week
This week, dedicated teams will clear litter from rural roads near Hamilton, including Sydes Brae and Newhousemill Road. Each affected road will operate on one-lane traffic from 9 am to 3:30 pm. The council stresses responsible waste disposal to minimize cleanup costs, while penalties for littering may reach £500.
