On Thursday the 26th of June 1941, Rev. James McNair, Chairman of the Trust, took possession of two clocks from Miss Jane Herald.
Miss Herald’s sister in law, Janet Herald, who was from Beith in Ayrshire, but formerly lived in Hamilton, had left provision for them in her will to be gifted to the Livingstone Memorial.
One of the clocks was on a pedestal (the one we’re trying to save) and was placed in the rose garden, while the other, a smaller, circular one was mounted on the front of the office building at Shuttle Row. Jane Herald, in presence of half a dozen of the Trust Board members unveiled the clock in the garden.
We’re looking to raise £545 in donations to save the Herald Clock.
