Stargazers across Scotland are in for a spectacular celestial show as Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) lights up the evening sky over the coming days. The glowing visitor is now bright enough to be spotted near the north-west horizon about 90 minutes after sunset, and with clear weather, it may even be visible to the naked eye.
This rare comet, last seen more than a thousand years ago, is currently streaking through our skies and is expected to shine brightest between now and early November. A countryside viewpoint away from city lights will give you the best chance of catching it, especially on clear, crisp autumn nights.
📸 A huge shout-out to talented photographer Stewart Daniels, who perfectly captured the comet’s glow above Strathaven this weekend. His breathtaking image shows the comet shimmering against the dark Scottish sky — a true masterpiece that’s inspiring sky-watchers locally.
Why not grab a camera, head out after sunset, and see if you can spot Comet Lemmon for yourself? Who knows — you might just capture your own slice of cosmic history!
