Ann Maxwell’s funeral service will be held on May 14th at 5.30pm at St Joseph’s RC Church, with the funeral mass on May 15th at 10.00am, followed by burial at Priestfield Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to attend, and condolences are extended to the family during this difficult time.

Blantyre Family Dentist at 3 Broompark Road faced a break-in on the night of April 27th. The incident disrupted patient visits and led to police and forensics involvement. The practice announced it would reopen on April 29th after addressing the impact of the break-in on both patients and staff.

300 New Family Homes

The proposed Craighead housing development in Blantyre plans to add around 300 new homes, significantly increasing the town’s population. This large-scale project will include playparks and community spaces, located near the river Clyde. Currently in the consultation phase, a public meeting was held on April 22, 2026.

Nigel Gill, a 55-year-old man from Blantyre, passed away on April 13 at Nightingale MacMillan Hospice. His family announced his death, expressing their grief. A funeral will take place on May 14 at South Lanarkshire Crematorium, followed by a gathering at The Parkville. Donations are requested for MacMillan Charity.
